Hey Cousins, Anita here wanting to drop in a give you a few travel sources that I believe are quite useful, yet extremely slept on. I particularly like using these when I go abroad and thought it was important to share with you all. Don’t forget to comment, share and subscribe!
U.S. Department (Travel Advisory)
This resource is very powerful and gives so much information on the countries around the world. This resource provides you with summary and advisory levels for information on your specific travel destination. The advisory gives you a few things such as:
Passport Validity
Entry and exit requirements
A country’s travel advisory level with ranking
Embassy and Consulate contact information
Tourism Board Website (International)
Just about every country around the globe has a tourism board website. What is this you ask? Well lets talk about it. The tourism website of a country is like your first encounter with a country before you typically get there. For example, lets use the Bahamas. If you were to type in “Bahamas” in Google and scroll down a few you will see something like this:
Did you notice it mentioned “The Official Website of The Bahamas?” What this simply means is this website is a trusted source of that country’s government and the country’s tourism board. The website typically provides up to date information on lodging, travel entry and exit requirements, things to do and my most favorite part, the event calendars! The event calendars are so important because this can make or break your travel itinerary. For example, if you wanted to head to the Bahamas and avoid Carnival season, the event calendar will be an awesome away to avoid a busy travel period and overly priced lodging during that time period. Here’s a pro tip, scroll down to the very bottom of the country’s website and look for the tourism number/email information to request and or download free pamphlets and guides.
Tourism Board Website (Domestic)
Now, just like up above we also have to remember domestically this same option is available when visiting different states in the U.S. I love using this source when it comes down to lodging. Many times I have found lodging deals by simply checking out the tourism board website of a state or city I am visiting. Let’s use Park City, Utah as an example. If you look under the explore tab and select Deals and Offers you will see discounted rates for lodging!
P.S. while you’re in the city/town you’re visiting ALWAYS take the time to step into the tourism office. They often have discount books full of coupons for you to use and explore the area. I’ve found awesome deals to some of the most coolest attractions and restaurants!
